Green "Holly" wood
The names aren’t the only similarities. You know, holly is green and green is the color of holly. Not only that, wood is wood! Just in case you didn’t notice.
The people of Greenwood need Jesus as much as the people of Hollywood.
I have to remind myself that our fight isn’t against people. That includes the people of Hollywood. It saddens me to think of anyone traveling that “highway to hell” Jesus mentions. Wait; is that a similarity between Greenwood and Hollywood? I’ll refrain from answering that here.
Before I get off track (I don’t mean the narrow and difficult road to heaven), I read an article about Brittany Murphy’s death that reminded me of most people in town. Brittany seemed to only be happy if she had a role or a man by her side. Do you see what I’m saying? People look for happiness in things that won’t last. Here it isn’t a role in a movie, but it is in appearances, material things, relationships with others, their kids, career success, etc. I’m not angry about it, just sad.
If you are someone who doesn’t need happiness from temporary things, I want to encourage you to continue to dive into God’s unfailing love. Having fulfillment in Christ is the only way to keep from being miserable and needing momentary happiness from the things of this world. If you are a parent of a girl please make it clear to her that she doesn’t need a sparkling vampire or a fuzzy werewolf to be happy in this life. She needs a man who died for her! He’s who we all need.
