Acts 1:8 Missions Ministry
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the Ends of the Earth.”
FBC Greenwood is an Acts 1:8 Church, meaning we believe it is our responsibility, both together and individually to seek to advance His Kingdom locally and globally. Applying Acts 1:8 to our local context means we are called to serve in:
Our Jerusalem:  Greenwood and surrounding areas
Our Judea:  Greenwood and surrounding areas
Our Samaria:  North America
The Ends of the Earth:  All over the world

Acts 1:8 Mission Statement “Sharing Jesus intentionally and strategically in our community, our region, America, and the World – as we pray, equip, challenge, send, and partner.”  Acts 1:8 Strategy Pray: We recognize that His work is only accomplished through the Spirit’s leading and empowerment. Equip: It is through personal and corporate worship, discipleship, education, and training that we become like Christ and understand His purpose in each of our lives, and the life of our church Challenge: Avenues will be provided to encourage each member to sacrificially give of themselves and their resources in order to reach out in their circles of influence and around the world Send: It is our desire that God calls people out of FBC Greenwood to serve Him around the world Partner: We seek to establish long-term strategic partnerships through our SBC Missions agencies to help make disciples and plant churches in all Acts 1:8 fields.

Jerusalem: (Greenwood and the surrounding community)  Our first responsibility is our local area, led by our Life Groups and other ministries including our Community Resource Center, along with our fellowship in the Concord Baptist Association.
Judea: (Arkansas and this region)  We are partnering with Dustin Clegg to help plant The Bridge Church in Wynne, Arkansas and we serve alongside the Arkansas Baptist State Convention.
The Bridge website
Samaria: (North America)  We relate to the North American Mission Board and are prayerfully considering if and how we engage in church planting in North America.
Ends of the Earth: We have made a long-term strategic commitment to make disciples and help start churches as the virtual missionary in San Francisco del Rincon (San Pancho), Mexico, and we partner with the International Mission Board.

PRAY FOR Our Commitment in San Francisco del Rincon aka “San Pancho”: The IMB asked our church to consider engaging an unreached and unengaged city (Unreached meaning less than 2% evangelical; Unengaged meaning that currently no one from the outside is seeking to reach them!) We believe the Lord has led us to engage a city: San Francisco del Rincon, commonly called “San Pancho”, a city of 113,000 in the Mexican state of Guanajuato.

  • The IMB has asked us to become THE virtual MISSIONARY for the city

It’s unengaged: The missionaries can’t be everywhere and they are asking us to take this city on. To make a long term commitment to lead the strategy to make disciples and start healthy, multiplying churches

  • We PRAY: See our Prayer card and Matthew 25:36-38. Our challenge to pray for San Pancho is YES, for salvation; YES, for disciples to be made; But, especially and               ultimately for workers/leaders/pastors/missionaries and new, simple, multiplying churches.
  • We send regular, small volunteer teams: To Prayer walk; Connect with people; Share the good news; “Stay with” those who are open (see Luke 10) Goal of making              disciples and raising up leaders; The natural next step is organizing churches. But, as opposed to thinking about “a” church and a building, the goal is to not put                        expectations on real estate. Meet in living rooms, places of business, etc. The expectation of a building often means that they cannot multiply and start other churches on        their own. If we keep it simple with house churches (much like the New Testament), then we are leading with a model that can continue long after we are gone.
  • Embrace it TOGETHER: This is not just about teams. We can all be a part of the greater “team” by embracing this long-term commitment together. Please pray we will             be faithful as a church family to take on this monumental challenge.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and engagement!
